The signal generator is configured for an external burst input. The function generator output is switched between 0 and &endash;1.05 Vdc to switch the ESG burst modulation on and off. A spectrum analyzer is used to measure the power of the fundamental (CW) frequency of the ESG with the burst on and off. The difference in these power levels is the Burst ON/OFF ratio, in dB.
